The Things I Tell You Will Not Be Wrong is the third exhibition project by Scope Hannover – Biennale für Fotografie und Medienkunst. In times of lock downs and restricted social interaction, it examines the possibilities of online art production. It is an experiment with an open outcome. 

It is a project in two parts: From July 2020 to June 2021, nine artists are invited to realize an online exhibition on this website, specifically created for this purpose. The exhibition is accompanied by a Live program that mainly takes place online. In June 2021, all artists – and some more – are invited to the biennial’s group exhibition at several venues in Hanover, Germany. Here, both online and physical art production will be confronted and reviewed.

The Things I Tell You Will Not Be Wrong presents works by artists with an analytical and self-reflexive way of working with images. The exhibition project investigates how images “tell” things, and how they represent and create realities. The different contexts of presentation – the uncontrollable space of the internet and the extremely local space of the exhibition in Hanover – create a tension, catalyzing the experiment as a whole.

The Things I Tell You Will Not Be Wrong ist das dritte Ausstellungsprojekt von Scope Hannover – Biennale für Fotografie und Medienkunst. In Zeiten von Lockdowns und eingeschränkter zwischenmenschlicher Interaktion überprüft die Biennale die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen digitaler Kunstproduktion. Das Projekt ist ein Experiment mit offenem Ausgang.

Das Projekt ist zweigeteilt: Von Juli 2020 bis Juni 2021 werden neun Künstlerinnen nacheinander eingeladen auf dieser neu eingerichteten Website eine Online-Ausstellung zu realisieren. Die Ausstellung wird von einem Live-Programm begleitet, das größtenteils online stattfindet. Im Juni 2021 werden diese und noch weitere Künstlerinnen zu einer physischen Gruppenausstellung an verschiedenen Orten in Hannover eingeladen. Hier werden physische und digitale Kunstproduktion gegenübergestellt und einer Überprüfung unterzogen.

The Things I Tell You Will Not Be Wrong zeigt Arbeiten von Künstler*innen mit einer dezidiert bildkritischen Herangehensweise. Das Ausstellungsprojekt fragt nach der Art und Weise wie Bilder sprechen, Wirklichkeiten vermitteln und selbst erschaffen. Die unterschiedlichen Kontexte – der unkontrollierbare Raum des Internets und die total lokale Ausstellung in Hannover – erzeugen eine Spannung, die das Experiment in neue Dimensionen transportiert.
